Chemical Recoveries - How to Consign Waste - Consignment Notes and Codes

The Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005 have introduced a new Hazardous Waste Consignment Note which is changed from the Special Waste Regulations Consignment Note.

The Consignment Note is required to include:

  • classification of waste (more details here)

  • producer premises code must be used (more details here)

  • copies must be kept by producer, haulier and disposal site

  • a Consigment Note unique code (more details here)

  • Note: Multiple Collection rounds have different requirements as do rejected loads and if a carrier has moved the waste to a new vehicle

The disposal site must send a return for each Consignment Note which includes all the above to :

  • Waste Producer

  • We will have online access to these returns - find out more here

The hazardous waste notes are no longer only available from the  EA. The notes can be produced by anyone providing they are in the correct format.
