How do I choose my EWC Code?

The EWC code is derived from the Waste List (European Waste Catalogue) split into chapters. Look up the chapter, locate the nearest match to your waste and you have your EWC code. If code has an asterisk after it you will need to determine if the waste is hazardous or not
3 recommended steps to locate code are:
Step1 - identify your Industry/Process

- if that fails to find you a match or you have chosen a code ending ****99 go to Step 2
Step2 - will a generic waste type (Chapters 13,14 or 15) locate your waste
- if that fails to find you a matc or you have chosen a code ending ****99 go to Step 3
Step3 - use Chapter 16 for wastes not otherwise found

- only use a code ending ****99 in Step 1 or Step 2 above  if no good match found in this chapter

You can filter the results by choosing a keyword (or part of a word) below for step2, step3 or the whole catalogue.
The search will highlight any results found and will output all the other EWC codes.

If you have not made a filter choice on the left the text search will be for the whole catalogue
