Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (IPPC)
Application
We have made our IPPC Application this month to the Environment Agency.
Making an IPPC application means explaining and justifying how we operate our
site.
We have to consider the impact of our site in these areas:
- materials and energy use (water, raw materials for products, steam,
electricity, gas, fuel etc)
- emissions - to air, water, solid wastes, trade effluent
- noise and odours
- what would happen in an emergency - fire, flood etc
We justify how our processes are "best available technique" (BAT), or why they
are different from the BAT standards issued by the EA for our specific industry.
The issues which deal with waste water, rainwater, noise etc is also subject to
BAT standards which are issued as "cross-sector" guidance.
We have further commissioned and submitted a a Site Report, which describes the
surrounding environment (water, land, humans, buildings) and how these may be
affected by our operations.
The Environment Agency provide more details on their website about IPPC
here
We are to make available as part of our public consultation most of the
application via email to interested parties. The table of contents are below:
